Prototype walkthrough performed in Figma.
Netflix Rolls is a fictional feature designed for Netflix for a class project. Social media has transformed how we consume media, and that includes television and movies. As short-form, scrollable video becomes ever more popular, we devised a way for Netflix to cater to this market.
Netflix Rolls introduces movie trailers and clips in a vertical scrolling format on the app. This allows users overwhelmed by the sheer volume of thumbnails displayed when opening the app to more easily find something to watch, or just scroll for a bit. This feed can be curated by following your favourite genres, actors, and creators to be shown clips that match your interests. If you find something to watch, just click the title and swipe up to begin watching on the big screen.
Commercial video showcasing the features of the app.
Alongside the prototype itself, which was designed and prototyped in a group of 3 using Figma, we created a short commercial showcasing the app. I was the lead director and videographer of this video, from the storyboarding stage through filming and editing, which was done in Adobe Premiere Pro. The video shows a narrative telling of the app walkthrough, starting with signing in, and walking through watching a few videos, viewing the information page, following a creator, seeing this change reflected in the Following tab, and sending the movie to the TV.
